Alcopops Online - Absinthe |
Absinthe contains a high content of Alcohol this usually ranges
from 55 to 85 %. It can be referred to as 'The Green Fairy' as
some have reported it gives a 'special effect' when drunk
although this has not been scientifically proven.
The first reported use of Absinthe was by the Ancient Egyptians
back in 1600 BC. The Egyptians used Wormwood the main Ingredient
in Absinthe for healing Menstrual Pains or Fevers. It was then
later also used by The Greeks and Romans for healing Jaundice,
Digestive Problems, Upset Stomachs and Bad Breath.
In the 19th Century Absinthe gained a big following in France
and other Countries, many of the big Artists and Poets of that
times drunk Absinthe.
Absinthe was banned in both France, USA and Switzerland between
1910 and 1920. While lots of Countries after that banned
Absinthe lots never did. In Canada, Spain and of course the
Czech Republic Absinthe (also known as The Green Fairy) has always
remained Legal. By the 90's Absinthe became popular in Bars and
Clubs in the UK and was featured in many Films Worldwide. Many
Celebrities now drink Absinthe including Jonny Depp, Eminem and
Marilyn Manson. |
